London Public Health Outcomes Framework (PHOF)

The Public Health Outcomes Framework (PHOF) was launched by the Secretary of State for Health in January 2012. The PHOF focuses on two high level outcomes - Increased healthy life expectancy and Reduced differences in life expectancy and healthy life expectancy between communities through greater improvements in more disadvantaged communities. The two overarching indicators are supported by a further 66 public health indicators to help focus understanding of progress year by year. The public health observatories, led by the London Health Observatory, have been commissioned by the Department of Health to produce data for the 2010/11 baseline. To support this work, London Health Programmes have collated and benchmarked all the indicators for London where data is currently available. The data contained in the London PHOF matches the technical specification set out in the DH guidance and is the latest available for each indicator.

The table below sets out all of the PHOF indicators. For those that have been included in the regional PHOF, data can be downloaded in Excel format, and where possible, a link to the indicator within the HNA toolkit is provided. We aim to include all of the PHOF indicators within the HNA toolkit over time. Indicators which are not included in the regional PHOF are displayed within the table along with explanation as to why they have been excluded.
